M80 jumps up five spots in team-selected seeding for ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage One
ESL have released the team seeding for ESL Pro League Season 22, with the league once again using the team-selected seeding approach that we saw used during Season 21. The system sees each team rank their opponents and themselves before ESL averages the results, throws out any extreme outliers, and formulates new standings based on the results.
As can be seen in the graphic below, most teams only slightly moved up or down in the final seeding compared to their rank in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS). However, G2 and M80 are the extreme outliers in this process, with both teams jumping five spots in the final seeding. This was enough for G2 to claim the #1 seed in Stage One while M80 breached the top ten.
Fellow NA team NRG also received a +1 bump in their final seed, with the team slotted between B8 and Fluxo as a result.
The first stage of ESL Pro League Season 22 is set to start on September 27th in Stockholm, Sweden and will be the final season of EPL before ESL transitions back to a partially online format. Due to EPL concluding after the Major cutoff date, this event will not count for invites to the StarLadder Budapest Major, however the two Swiss Stages will provide a ton of matches for teams eager to climb the VRS ahead of the final events of 2025.
