ESL Challenger League S50 Cup #2 days 7-8 recap: Wildcard advance to Lower Bracket Final
Last night, Wildcard advanced to the ESL Challenger League Season 50 Cup #2 Lower Bracket Final following a 2-0 win over SkinRave. This result came on the eight day of the event which followed a truly uneventful day seven as both Aether and LAG forfeited their matches in the lower bracket due to health concerns and scheduling conflicts, respectively.
The end of their runs in the Cup are quite unfortunate as both teams were poised to earn significant VRS points should they have claimed upset wins in their respective series.
Wildcard 2-0
SkinRave
With that said, the lower bracket semifinal played on September 19th was surprisingly competitive despite SkinRave needing to field Tommy "Axed" Ryan as a stand-in. The first map of the series, Dust2, saw SkinRave tie things up 7-7 at one point before Wildcard won the map 13-8. Meanwhile on Inferno SkinRave actually held a 9-6 lead at the start of their T-side, however they were unable to keep up the momentum ultimately giving up the map 13-10 to Wildcard and conceding the series 2-0.
With that squared away, Getting Info will face off against Marsborne tonight in the Upper Bracket final at 09:00PM, with the winner securing a spot in the grand finals.
