ESL Challenger League S50 Cup 2 day 6 recap: ECL marred by further DDOS attacks

DDOS attacks have continued to a significant problem for NA teams in ESL challenger League.

Last night saw the field of teams competing in ESL Challenger League Season 50 Cup #2 reduced to six teams following two more more elimination games in the lower bracket alongside two matches in the upper bracket. The day was unfortunately marred by a DDOS attack directed at SkinRave in their series against Marsborne, forcing the team to forfeit map two and fall into the lower bracket. This is the latest incident to affect NA teams in ECL and other NA leagues over the past months with no end in sight.

Wildcard 1-2 United States Getting Info

The second upper bracket of the day was much more interesting and concluded without any incident fortunately, as Getting Info secured a significant upset victory over Wildcard. The series saw the two teams trade map picks before Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado helped power Getting Info to a 13-8 win on Ancient. With this win, Getting Info will now meet Marsborne in the Upper Bracket Final on Saturday.

In the lower bracket, another notable upset took place as Aether secured a 2-1 win over BOSS, eliminating Ben "ben1337" Smith and co. from the tournament. Like the previous series, both squads traded their respective map picks, leaving Overpass standing for Aether to lock down 13-7 after a great map from John "arcade" Rogel and a strong series from recent addition Christian "Sathsea" Birkelbach.

United States Wanted Goons 1-2 United States LAG

The map was rounded out by LAG ending Wanted Goons' run in the event despite a competitive showing from the latter team. In this series, map picks actually went as expected although Overpass was a close 13-11 affair for Wanted Goons. With the series tied up, Nuke ended up being a decisive affair for LAG as they secured the map 13-6.
