
ESL Challenger League S50 Cup 2 days 4-5 recap: Getting Info marches on in Upper Bracket
The second Cup tournament in ESL Challenger League S50 is getting down to the nitty-gritty. After two more days of play, only eight teams remain in the tournament.
As a reminder, the winner of this tournament moves onto the ECL S50 NA Finals. NRG won the first Cup in NA, booking their spot in the regional finals.
The fourth day saw eight matches go ahead, with every one of them ending in a 2-0 scoreline.
Getting Info 2-0
LAG
The marquee matchup of the round was the upper bracket quarterfinal between Getting Info and LAG.
Getting Info got off to a hot start on LAG's map pick of Dust2. The orgless squad took a 10-2 lead at the half behind Shane "shane" Dressler and Dylan "slump" Naylor's impressive play. LAG couldn't mount a comeback as Getting Info took the first map by a score of 13-2.
Overpass was Getting Info's pick and they jumped ahead to an early 5-0 lead. LAG showed more in this map, though, bringing the deficit down to two after a 7-5 half. Getting Info took control in the second half, as it was slump partnering up with Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado this time to lead their team to the 13-6 win on the map and the 2-0 victory in the match.
In other matchups, Wildcard beat Akimbo, Marsborne defeated Outfit 49, and SkinRave bested Shimmer in the upper bracket. In the lower bracket, Wanted Goons swept FlyQuest RED, anything else beat NYX, Aether topped Mythic, and BOSS defeated InControl.
The fifth day of the tournament saw four lower-bracket matchups and four more teams get sent home. Once again, all the matches were 2-0.

LAG looked to their match against anything else as a chance to bounce back from their previous loss to Getting Info. LAG came out firing this time around, taking a commanding 10-2 lead on anything else's map, Ancient. anything else found a little success in the second half, but it wasn't near enough as LAG took the map 13-5. Jonathan "djay" Dallal was the star man in the first map, putting up a super 23-11 K/D with a 2.26 rating.
The focus then shifted to Train, where anything else put up a much better showing. They held onto a 7-5 lead at the half, which eventually turned into a 10-8 lead. However, LAG didn't allow a third map, winning five of the next six rounds to secure the win in regulation and move on to the next round in the lower bracket. Kevin "consti" Yi took the reigns in the second map, securing 25 frags and a 1.95 rating.
The other results saw Wanted Goons defeat Akimbo, Aether beat Outfit 49, and BOSS eliminate Shimmer.
