FACEIT announce changes to ESEA League for Season 55

ESEA League is getting upgraded for its 55th season.

FACEIT has released information on updates coming to ESEA League for the upcoming season.

These changes include a new algorithm for matchmaking in Open, restrictions on high-elo players joining Open 1-8 teams, and an improved UI to make scouting opponents more user-friendly.

Season 55 will feature a new matchmaking algorithm early on in the season to eliminate early-season blowouts in Open. After the season begins, players who are higher than level 8 will not be able to join an Open 1-8 team.

The winner of Advanced Season 55 will receive full support to travel to the ESL Pro League Qualifier. With that in mind, the Advanced season will be shorter to give the winning team time to sort things out, such as visas if they need to go to another country for the EPL Qualifier.

Playoff and prize info will now be integrated with ESEA League Standings. Users no longer need to refer to the league FAQ for information on playoff teams or relegation standings.

The season match list is also getting a facelift, with maps played and final scores being available at a glance. This change will eliminate the need to have several tabs open to scout an upcoming opponent.

Once a team has five players, their ELO will be calculated to place them in the correct Open division immediately, meaning there shouldn't be any last-minute division switches as previously experienced.

Finally, FACEIT is streamlining roster invites so that it's as easy as "inviting someone to FACEIT Matchmaking." There no longer is a need to make numerous invites just to get a new member on one's team.
