Monte spoil JT and co.'s Passion UA debut
Passion UA's new lineup debuted with a defeat at the hands of Monte this Friday, August 29th, at DraculaN Season 1. The Ukrainian organization made the headlines earlier this month for signing up Complexity's core, however, their debut went sour.
There were a lot of expectations ahead of the match, after all, Johnny "JT" Theodosiou, Michael "Grim" Wince, Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli, and Nicholas "nicx" Lee just reunited with their former coach, Tiaan "Tc" Coertzen. But, Monte took them down 2-0 after two hard-fought maps.
Passion UA had a decent advantage on Nuke (9-5), but Monte won five rounds in a row on their CT-side, took the lead, and never looked back.
It looked like we were getting a third map as Passion UA had two map points, however, Monte forced overtime, and that gave them momentum to secure the series in overtime.
In a tough game like this, individuals can make a difference, and Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras was the main catalyst behind Monte's victory. He posted a 1.44 rating and a +5.61% Round Swing, as a result of top-fragging for Monte on both maps.
This loss isn't the end of the road for Passion UA, though, as they can still make a deep run via the lower bracket. They'll play against the loser of 9INE vs. Gentle Mates tomorrow, August 30th.
Passion UA will need to win this and three other BO3s to reach the grand finals of DraculaN Season 1.
