Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3 Day 4 Recap: Chicken Coop secure close win over Aether
Last night saw the final match of the Dust2.us Eagle Master Series #3 Swiss Stage Round One played out with Chicken Coop taking on Aether in a rescheduling match from the first day of the event. Ultimately Chicken Coop secured a hard-fought 2-0 win over Aether to claim the final win in the opening draw of matches in the event powered by INUI.
Unfortunately last night's other scheduled series was forfeited by MIGHT as the team withdrew from the event ahead of disbanding outright today.
Chicken Coop 2-0 Aether
The series between Chicken Coop and Aether ended up being a two-map affair although both maps were incredibly close and a third map was not out of the realm of possibility.
Starting on Aether's pick of Inferno, Aether began their T-side with a 5-1 start that was slowly whittled away by Chicken Coop to see the first half end in a 6-6 draw. In the second half, Aether found the opening pistol round and the following round before a T-side effort from Chicken Coop's Sebastian "cbass" Bentancor gave his team the punching weight needed to win seven out of the next nine rounds to secure Inferno 13-10.
Moving onto Chicken Coop's map pick, Aether started off with another pistol round win and the following round on their CT-side before Chicken Coop claimed seven out of the next eight rounds to decisively win the half. However, Aether managed to close the gap a bit at the end of the half to see Chicken Coop's lead narrowed to a 7-5 scoreline. In the second half, Chicken were the first to find double digits with three rounds in a row on their CT-side before Aether answered back with seven of the next eight rounds to find map point. Chicken Coop would take this final round of regulation to force Train into a triple-overtime marathon.
This triple-overtime marathon saw both teams unable to grab a decisive killing blow for some time, before Chicken Coop finally won the last round of triple OT, taking the map 22-20 and avoiding quadruple OT.
