Liquid survive ECSTATIC scare in BLAST Bounty Season 2 opener
Liquid knocked ECSTATIC out of BLAST Bounty Season 2 this Tuesday, August 5th. Liquid needed to have a good result today, following an elimination by VP.Prodigy last Friday, in the BLAST Open London qualifier, and they did so despite everything that happened in the first map of the series.
The series began on Train, and ECSTATIC forced overtime — much to the desperation of Liquid fans. From there, we witnessed a nearly infinite back-and-forth as the game went all the way to fifth overtime.
ECSTATIC had six map points in their hands during overtime, but somehow, Liquid found a way to stay alive and clinched the game in the fifth overtime. They couldn't have done it had Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, and Keith "NAF" Markovic stepped up.
Liquid had a strong showing in the first half of Ancient, their pick, and switched to the CT side with a 9-3 advantage. ECSTATIC didn't go out without a fight, but Liquid eventually closed out the game and avoided what would be a stressful third map.
Liquid can't celebrate just yet, as they have to win one more best-of-three to qualify for the BLAST Bounty Season 2 LAN finals. They'll play that match on August 9th or 10th, according to Twistzz.
