Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series issues ban due to account sharing in EMS #3 Qualifier

The second Open Qualifier will be rerun for affected teams.

Following an investigation by Dust2.us and INUI, the Dust2.us Eagle Masters hereby announces the disqualification of "faceit enjoyers" from the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3 due to determining a member of the team "roov1kq" engaged in account sharing, violating INUI's Player Code of Conduct and the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series rulebook.

As a result roov1kq will be permanently banned from the Dust2.us Eagle Masters while the following players will be barred from competing in the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3 and its remaining qualifiers:

  • United States "Prs"

  • United States "frogtrappa"

  • Canada "yawn" aka "yawnnz"

  • United States "Electrician" aka "CoolGames13"

Per the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series rulebook, the tournament organizer reserves the right to bar competitors from its competitions for serious infractions on other platforms in order to protect the integrity of its competitions.

4.14 Banned Players and Ban Policy

The Dust2.us Eagle Master Series reserves the right to rule ineligible players who are currently banned or otherwise sanctioned by the ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), Gamers Club, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC), BLAST, or other major tournaments organizers at its sole discretion for serious infractions and/or integrity violations and independently rule ineligible players for these violations at its sole discretion. Serious infractions and/or integrity violations include but not limited to: Cheating, Match Fixing, Betting Offenses, and Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

For avoidance of doubt, The Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series reserves these rights for both teams competing in the Main Event as well as teams competing in the Open Qualifiers for the Main Event.

Dust2.us and INUI's investigation revealed that "roov1kq" completed account verification with INUI on the day of the qualifier from an IP address located in Kazakhstan, however during the qualifier their ping and ip address were consistent with a player competing in North America.

As the player completed verification hours before the qualifier was set to start, it is near impossible for the player to have traveled between these two locations in that timeframe. This points to the account being verified by one individual before being used by a second individual.

Supporting this premise is the fact that outside of the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3 Open Qualifier #2 "roov1kq" almost exclusively plays matches on the FACEIT platform and Valve matchmaking on European and Russian servers.

Overall, the evidence points to an attempt by an individual to use the roov1kq account to obfuscate their identity, deceive tournament administration, and gain an unfair advantage against their competition.

Along with faceit enjoyers being disqualified, Dust2.us will be re-running portions of the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3 Open Qualifier #2 bracket in order to give affected teams a chance to qualify for the main event.

Players have the right to appeal their bans by contacting Head Admin Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore via email at [email protected].

Can we just move this entire mess of a tournament to FACEIT?

FACEIT wouldn't have caught this because they don't do ID verification the same way.
