NRG and M80 among the most affected by Anubis removal

Someone took NA's playground away.

With the release of Premier's third season last night, Valve has made a massive change to the map pool by replacing Anubis with Overpass.

For the top pro teams, it's going to be a quick turnaround, as ESL has already confirmed that Overpass will be in the map pool at IEM Cologne next week. But in addition to having to learn or re-learn Overpass, some teams are losing Anubis from their go-to map pool.

Two of the most critically affected teams are both North American rosters. NRG and M80 are first and second in the entire world in team average player rating on Anubis over the past 12 months, with NRG at a 1.13 rating and M80 at 1.11. Over the past year, NRG won 29 of the 43 maps of Anubis they played, while M80 won 22 of 36.

One of the highest globally ranked teams to be affected is Aurora (formerly Eternal Fire), who have won 31 of the the past 41 games of Anubis they've played.

For NRG and M80 though, they will have a bit more time to prepare for the loss of Anubis, as they are not competing at Cologne. M80 have chosen to compete in the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #3 in August, and could practice thier Overpass against NA competition before heading overseas.
