drop is among the players on Wildcard's radar

Media: Wildcard targets Brazilian players to rebuild lineup

Changes are coming to the NA org.

After Wildcard's exit from the Major in Stage 1, the team benched IGL Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and AWPer Love "phzy" Smidebrant. According to our sister website Dust2 Brasil Wildcard is actively targeting players in Brazil to fill out their roster.

The players in question are André "drop" Abreu, Jhonatan "JOTA" Wilian, Vinicius "v$m" Moreira, and Moisés "tomate" Lima. Dust2 Brasil understands Wildcard reached out to these players in the past weeks, but the conversations didn't evolve to actual negotiations.

Wildcard will likely be looking to stay in the Americas region of the Valve Regional Standings, now that teams will no longer be listed as hailing from two regions when there is no majority. When there is a tie, the strongest region represented in the tie within the team will be where the team is placed in the VRS.

However, due to the recent addition of MENA as a sub-region, this does benefit Wildcard's chances of being an American team. Since South Africa is not one of the countries listed in MENA, Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek's nationality will count towards the lowest priority region represented in the team, which is the Americas in Wildcard's case.

As of now, Wildcard's roster looks like this:

  • United States Joshua "JBa" Barutt

  • Sweden Tim "susp" Ångström

  • Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek

  • Vincent "vinS" Jozefiak (Coach)

  • Sweden Love "phzy" Smidebrant (Inactive)

  • Canada Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz (Inactive)
