It seems like m1cks will take another break from CS

m1cks leaves regain: "I'm unable to find the passion for pursuing competitive CS that I used to have"

He's going to focus "more on real-life things."

Veteran NA coach/analyst Joshua "m1cks" Micks has stepped down from regain and coaching altogether, he announced on June 21st.

regain was m1cks' first team after a long break away from competition, and he coached them from February to June.

m1cks has stepped down from Counter-Strike a few times over the past years because of mental health struggles, namely depression. While he's in a better place mentally now, he explained on X that he doesn't feel the passion for competition anymore.

I'm currently not coaching and focusing more on real-life things, and adding to Twitter/CS where I feel like it. No matter how much I try, I'm unable to find the passion for pursuing competitive CS that I used to have, it mostly just leaves me depressed and embarrassed.

It really sucks, the last couple years I've struggled to find any enjoyment or purpose, my health declined a lot as a result and it's a long process to become someone I'm somewhat proud of for once. But I don't see a point in not having faith for the future, perception is reality.

During this stint with regain, m1cks most notably attended Fragadelphia x LVL UP EXPO 2025 and coached them in ESEA Advanced Seasons 52 and 53, without success. The team will play the Crossfire Season 1 Finals tomorrow, June 27th, against Villainous.

regain are now:

  • United States Eric "Zucar" Zuccaro

  • Canada Halen "Halen" Lang

  • United States Andrew "dvrk" Brunken

  • United States Alexander "sasha" Burke

  • Kyryl "Fuzenko" Kotov
