OSSCS announces changes for Season 8 and beyond
Off Season Shenanigans just dropped their plans for the future of their league, with an aim at growing beyond their carved-out place in the off-season.
OSS announced their plan for a more streamlined and professional league on X.
The group stage will feature a Swiss System, where teams must win three matches before they lose three to advance to the playoffs. The top 16 teams from the group stage will join eight VRS invites to create a 24-team playoff stage. The league states that this change will make increase the competition while concluding the group stage quicker than before.
OSS will increase the prize pool to $3,000 in S8 and beyond for future iterations of the league. They will also introduce a stricter 72-hour window to play matches, with subs allowed if needed. Alongside that, admin communications will, in turn, be faster to provide a more professional environment for the teams and players.
Starting from Season 9, the increased prize pool will come with more VRS incentives for teams aspiring to Major qualification. Also coming in S9 will be official match broadcasts, a 100% completed website, stat tracking, and sponsorship packages. OSS plans to explore the possibility of a LAN in 2026.
