M80 crash out of PGL Astana after loss to weakened G2

G2 took down M80 despite playing with their coach.

M80 finished last place at PGL Astana 2025 following their third consecutive loss in the Swiss group stage, this time at the hands of G2, who played one more game with their head coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas instead of Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač.

This is a terrible result for M80, especially because PGL Astana was a good opportunity to gain some Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points as several top teams skipped the tournament.

The series kicked off on Dust2, and G2 scraped a 13-11 victory to secure their map pick as Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko and Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa combined for 43 frags.

M80 tied the series on Ancient thanks to a well-played CT side in the second half, in which they shut down many of G2's plays.

However, M80 didn't carry the momentum to Inferno and saw G2 enjoy an early 7-3 lead. M80 woes continued in the second half as malbsMd was on fire and handed the final blow with a quad kill in round 23.
