ESL Challenger League Playoffs NA S49 Day 5: Nouns stop Legacy, guarantee NA team qualifies to EPL
After falling to NRG in the upper bracket final, Nouns have set up a rematch against the top NA team by taking down Legacy last night, securing a close 2-1 win over the Brazilian squad. The win guarantees that an NA squad will claim the lucrative spot in ESL Pro League Season 22 from ESL Challenger League Season 49 while the win also serves as the latest chapter in Nouns' swansong in Counter-Strike 2 following their official exit from the game last week.
The series between Nouns and Legacy was remarkably close, with the Brazilians striking the first blow by winning their map pick, Mirage, 13-10 after a massive 17 kills from Bruno "latto" Rebelatto on his team's CT-side. The series was then tied up via Nouns claiming a 13-9 win on Dust2 with the team breaking a 6-6 stalemate at the half by winning their CT-side 7-3 thanks to a combined 19 kills from Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell and Anthony "CLASIA" Kearney.
With the series tied up, Nuke began with Nouns winning their T-side 7-5 before climbing up to a 10-5 lead on their CT-side after winning the second half pistol round and the following two rounds. Despite the best efforts from Legacy to tie things up, Nouns were able to keep Legacy at bay long enough to secure an 11-8 lead before taking Nuke 13-10.
Nouns face off against NRG tonight at 09:00PM in a Bo5 series to decide which team nets the sole spot in ESL Pro League Season 22 while also claiming $22,000.
