ESL announce fan viewing area for ESL Impact League Season 7 Finals following fan backlash
ESL have announced plans to open up a viewing area for the ESL Impact League Season 7 finals on the DreamHack Dallas convention show floor to serve as a place for fans to watch the Impact tournament. ESL's decision to create a dedicated area to watch the $123,000 events comes after the TO announced plans for the grand finals of the event to be played on the IEM Dallas main stage while also sequestering the rest of the event behind closed doors.
While the first part of that announcement drew praise from Impact fans for putting Impact in front of a massive crowd, the decision to play the remaining matches behind closed doors drew heavy backlash as it meant fans would be unable to cheer on six out of the eight teams in attendance or see them in-person.
This last-minute compromise by ESL aims to give fans a way to communally watch the tournament with the viewing area likely featuring the games on the big screen although the Thursday matches will be played out before DreamHack Dallas is open to fans.
The ESL Impact League Season 7 finals are set to start on May 22nd.
