Liquid take down MIBR, NAVI en route to IEM Melbourne 2025 playoffs
Liquid have reached the IEM Melbourne 2025 playoffs after besting MIBR and Natus Vincere on April 23rd. This is their second tournament under Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek's in-game leadership, and they're already delivering a much better performance in Australia than PGL Bucharest.
Liquid 2-0 MIBR
Liquid had no trouble defeating MIBR as they kicked off the series with a convincing victory on Anubis, the Brazilians' map pick. This is a map that siuhy didn't play at all before joining Liquid, as it is MOUZ's permaban.
The series headed to Ancient afterward, and Liquid carried on the momentum thanks to Keith "NAF" Markovic winning a difficult 1v4 situation with just a Deagle. Liquid ended up winning the first half by a narrow margin and played well on the CT-side to round out the victory.
Liquid 2-1 NAVI
As expected, NAVI proved to be a much tougher opponent than MIBR. Still, Liquid started the series ahead thanks to another convincing victory on Anubis, this time thanks to a great CT-side half.
NAVI managed to tie the series on Inferno off the back of an impressive 11-1 T-side showing in the first half. Liquid didn't give up and nearly forced overtime, but they simply didn't have a margin for error.
The series was decided on Ancient and Liquid dominated both halves to eliminate NAVI from IEM Melbourne and secure their playoff berth. Though siuhy finished with most frags (20), it was Guy "NertZ" Iluz who arguably made the best play on Ancient as he killed all four players in a 2v4 retake.
Liquid return to the server this Friday, April 25th, to play The MongolZ in the quarterfinals at 06:00AM. Should Liquid win, they'll have a rematch against Vitality on Saturday.
