Vitality secure IEM Melbourne 2025 playoff berth over Liquid
Vitality are through the IEM Melbourne 2025 playoffs following a 2-0 victory over Liquid on April 22nd.
The result also saw Dan "apEX" Madesclaire's troops extend their win streak to 18 matches, and now they're just five away from tying Liquid's record in 2019.
Mirage:
Vitality 13-5 Liquid
Liquid picked Mirage, but it was Vitality who felt totally comfortable on the map. They shut down Liquid's T-side in the first half and carried a 10-2 advantage to the second half, which practically sealed the map. Liquid had little to no room to work with, and Vitality closed the map fast.
Nuke:
Vitality 13-8 Liquid
Liquid started Nuke ahead as they secured the first pistol, but they couldn't win consecutive rounds later on when it came to full buys. Vitality won nearly 11 rounds in a row between the end of their T-side and the beginning of their CT-side, thus putting Liquid on the ropes.
Liquid won four T-side rounds, but Vitality closed the map before things got scary. Even though Shahar "flameZ" Shushan and Robin "ropz" Kool stole the show with over 30 kills in the series each, everybody on Vitality finished with a positive K/D, unlike the Liquid players.
Vitality will play Falcons to decide who advance straight to the semifinals of IEM Melbourne.
As for Liquid, they now have to win two series to reach the playoffs. They'll face MIBR tonight 04:00AM and will play either NAVI or FlyQuest should they beat MIBR.
