Liquid best Virtus.pro at IEM Melbourne 2025 opener to claim first victory under siuhy
Liquid have secured their first victory under Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek's orders this Monday, April 21st. They beat Virtus.pro in the first round of IEM Melbourne 2025 and are through the group B upper semifinals.
This is a good result for Liquid as they had a lackluster performance at PGL Bucharest 2025 earlier this month, losing all six maps they played.
Dust2: 
Liquid 13-8 Virtus.pro 
Liquid outclassed Virtus.pro on Dust2, which the Russians picked, thanks to a nearly flawless performance on the T-side in the second half. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken led the charges with nine kills in that half, helping Liquid to dismantle Virtus.pro's defense and win comfortably.
Mirage: Virtus.pro 13-8 Liquid
While Virtus.pro displayed an uninspiring CT-side on Dust2, they showed the opposite on Mirage. The Russians won nine rounds on the CT-side of Mirage, thus practically sealing the map in the first half. The trio of Evgenii "FL1T" Lebedev, Kaisar "ICY" Faiznurov, and Petr "fame" Bolyshev combined for 37 frags alone on that CT-side.
Ancient: Liquid 13-10 Virtus.pro
Ancient was the most balanced map of all three, as Virtus.pro put up a good fight after losing the first half by 8-4 on the CT-side. They threatened a comeback in the second half, however, siuhy secured the series by sticking the smoke defuse.

While Virtus.pro will face FlyQuest in an elimination series tomorrow, Liquid will face Vitality in the group B upper semifinals and the winner will qualify for the IEM Melbourne playoffs.
