NRG survive Getting Info to lock in NA MRQ third-place finals berth
In an incredibly close series, NRG have overcome Getting Info to advance in the BLAST.tv Austin Major NA MRQ Play-in Stage to the third-place decider to face BLUEJAYS later today. With this, the veteran squad will face the young guns of BLUEJAYS in what is expected to be an exciting match to determine the final NA spot in the hometown Major.
Mirage:
NRG 9-13 Getting Info
The opening half of Mirage saw Getting Info start with a 4-1 lead on their CT-side before a renewed effort from NRG closed to just two rounds with Getting Info leading 7-5. The second half began with Getting Info extended their lead by winning the first two rounds of the half, and despite strong efforts from NRG, Getting Info held onto this lead to win their map pick 13-9.
Dust2:
NRG 13-7 Getting Info
Moving onto Dust2, Getting Info, starting on their T-side, won their third pistol round of the series to claim an early 2-0 lead, however the first half Dust2 ended in a 6-6 tie thanks to NRG going 6-1 in rounds in the middle of the half. After switching, NRG were completely dominant on their T-side, taking Dust2 13-7 in the end without too much trouble.
Anubis:
NRG 13-10 Getting Info
The final map in the series, Anubis, was the closest of the three as both teams played a competitive series that left the winner undecided for the entire match. The first half went the way of NRG as Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella's troops won their T-side 7-5 despite Getting Info winning their fourth pistol round of the series. After moving onto their CT-side, NRG quickly climbed up to a 10-5 scoreline, with their lead suggesting the team would cruise to a victory over their orgless opponents. However, Getting Info launched into a determined comeback spearheaded by Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly, winning five of the next six rounds to bring us to a 11-10 scoreline in the closing rounds of the series.
With the stage set for a variety of outcomes, NRG's nitr0 and Josh "oSee" Ohm proved to be the difference makers on the CT-side, carving a path for NRG to win the map 13-10 and set up a confrontation against BLUEJAYS for the final spot in the Major.
NRG will face off against BLUEJAYS at 07:30PM for the final NA spot in the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
