Wildcard outlast NRG to lock in organization's second Major

A close series went the way of stanislaw's troops.

Wildcard have outlasted NRG in a marathon series to top Group B of the BLAST.tv Austin Major North American MRQ, securing the organization one of three spots in the Austin Major while also marking the organization's second Major after the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 last year. With Complexity and Wildcard locking in their spots, one final spot remains up for grabs between Getting Info, BLUEJAYS, Marsborne, and NRG.

Dust2: World Wildcard 10-13 NRG United States

The opening map of the series, Dust2, ultimately went the way of NRG after a competitive first half where the two teams finished 6-6 gave way to a dominant CT-side by NRG. NRG won the first five rounds of the second half to climb up to an 11-6 lead before keeping Wildcard at bay long enough to take the map 13-10.

Inferno: World Wildcard 13-9 NRG United States

Inferno kicked off with Wildcard claiming a 6-1 lead on their CT-side before NRG found their footing and ground down the deficit to just two rounds and a 7-5 scoreline at halftime. After switching sides, NRG briefly took the lead on their CT-side with a 8-7 scoreline before Wildcard dominated the rest of the map to secure Inferno 13-9 and force a third map.

Anubis: World Wildcard 13-11 NRG United States

With the series tied, Wildcard immediately put NRG on the backfoot by winning the first four rounds on their T-side 4-0 and climbing up to a 7-2 scoreline before NRG closed the gap to 7-5 at the half. In the second half, NRG claimed the lead on their T-side with rounds in a row before Wildcard found match and series point by winning the next five rounds. With their back against the wall, NRG staved off defeat for a little longer by winning the next two rounds before a messy execute paved the way for Wildcard to win Anubis 13-11 and the series 2-1.
