FACEIT commits $20,000 to North American collegiate CS:GO scene

Registration will cost just $100 per team.

Earlier this month FACEIT announced their commitment to collegiate CS:GO with $50,000 worth of prize money to be distributed between North America, South America, and Europe. North America will see $20,000 of that sum, while the other two regions will each have $15,000 up for grabs.

the most recent season of FACEIT's collegiate league recently wrapped up, but this increased commitment continues to push the shift in mentality in North America from heralding individual gameplay to celebrating team-based success. It also represents a cash influx to the rapidly expanding North American collegiate scene.

Collegiate varsity teams like Davenport University and Michigan Tech have managed to rise through the ranks of lesser ESEA leagues to contend for placement in the newly rebranded ESL Challenger League, while lesser-known teams like IUPUI have begun to find success at LANs like Fragadelphia Brentwood, where the Jaguars managed to secure a podium finish.

The prize pool for the Spring 2022 FACEIT Collegiate CS:GO Championships is as follows:

1st - $5,000
2nd - $3,000
3-4th - $2,000
5-8th - $1,000
9-16th - $500

Registration concludes on January 31st and the first week of matches will begin on February 5th. Interested players must verify their collegiate status here.
