Sniper Delta sweeps Fragadelphia 16: North Brunswick

The team didn't drop a single map on their way to securing first.

The second event of the Fragadelphia 16 circuit, held in North Brunswick, New Jersey has come to a close with Sniper Delta, featuring Andrew "Drew" Warkentin of 95 Bulls and Damian "droid" Boulware, securing victory over Stealth in the grand finals.

The first semifinal saw Sniper Delta pitted against Drypeek, a team featuring Junjie "Gank88" Lin of ONET4P. The first map of Vertigo, Sniper Delta's pick, was a dominant affair, with Sniper Delta barely giving Drypeek any room to breathe with a 10-5 half in their favor on the Terrorist side, thanks to a riveting performance from Devin "Xzen" Barber before they cleanly won out the next six rounds in a row to finish off the map.

The second map, Inferno, would be far closer, with Drypeek managing eight rounds on the half and getting up to 13 until Sniper Delta managed to claw back nine of the last ten rounds of the game, securing both the map and their spot in the grand final.

The opposite side of the bracket would see NoVa's Birthday Brawlers, featuring another ONET4P player in Johnny "JDubs" Wu, face off against Stealth, a match that would be significantly closer than the other semifinal. NBB's pick of Inferno would, similarly to the other semifinal, go the distance, with NBB establishing a 15-10 lead thanks to strong performances from Bradley "Slugy" Kohler and Cory "shutout" Frymark, a lead which they nearly threw away before closing it out in the last round of regulation.

Stealth's pick of Nuke would go almost exactly the same as Inferno, with another 8-7 half, this time in favor of NBB, although Stealth would go on to get a 15-10 lead of their own, powered by Scott "Summers" Finlay. NBB would get close to pulling it back, with shutout managing a 1.30 rating, but it just wasn't enough, as Stealth would ultimately finish the map with a 16-13 scoreline, taking it to Vertigo.

The third map of the series would see a third 7-8 half, this time in favor of Stealth. NBB would win the pistol and conversion, but found limited success in the second half despite a strong showing from Slugy, with Stealth taking the final map 16-13, locking in their grand final spot after a marathon of a series.

The third-place decider was originally going to see Drypeek take on NBB for $250, as both sides would get 200 Fragadelphia points regardless of whether they won or lost. Instead, Drypeek chose to forfeit the match, leaving the cash prize to NBB.

Sniper Delta came out swinging in their grand final matchup against Stealth, taking a commanding 10-5 lead in the first half of Stealth's pick of Inferno. Although Stealth was able to take the pistol in the second half, they were unable to convert, putting their economy in dire straits, allowing Sniper Delta to take the map in a convincing 16-9 scoreline.

Stealth got off to a flying start on Sniper Delta's pick of Vertigo, snagging four of the first five rounds. Unfortunately for Stealth, they were quickly shut out of the remainder of the half due to a strong showing from the trio of Drew, Xzen, and Matt "dvl" Buechel, leaving only one additional round for Stealth as Sniper Delta took 10 rounds on the half. In the second half, Sniper Delta secured the pistol and subsequent conversion, but Stealth managed to string three of their own rounds together to keep themselves afloat. It was not meant to be for Stealth, as Sniper Delta quickly closed out the game with four rounds in a row for themselves, finishing the series and earning themselves the grand prize.
