Yeah and RBG reach second day of ESEA Winter Cash Cup 2

Despite coming from the open qualifier, the Brazilian-American squad are the highest ranked of the four remaining teams.

The open portion of ESEA's second Winter Cash Cup played out yesterday, ultimately seeing Yeah and an RBG side featuring Reece "Wilky" Wilkerson and Connor "chop" Sullivan emerge on top. The latter side's roster, cheekily named "Dust2 Article", also featured Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk, though he did not play. An RBG representative informed Dust2.us that the team are using the event to try out potential new players.

Things got off to a surprising start early on, seeing new MDL side GSG9 using Soham "valens" Chowdhury in place of the (maybe?) departing Ryan "ROBBY1" Robshaw eliminated by Main team Ad Nauseam 16-8 on Inferno.

The third round of play also saw a notable upset, as the new Big Chillin roster suffered a 16-11 defeat at the hands of Fragging for Iris, who will make the leap from Intermediate to Advanced this season.

The trend continued in the fourth round, where mix "Vanity's Deciples" (sic) defeated Hate's Chess Club 16-12 on Vertigo. The result was made even more impressive by the fact that the latter side was fielding Extra Salt member Josh "oSee" Ohm.

Vanity's Deciples' transcendance was brought to a stop in the next round, however, where Yeah gave them a 16-6 drubbing. In the same round, a Triumph side utilizing coach Marcos "tacitus" Castilho and Gabe "Spongey" Greiner in place of Erik "penny" Penny and the departed Ryan "ryann" Welsh fell to the above mentioned RBG formulation.

The final round of play saw Yeah ease past Advanced side "fiji's bag chasers". The Brazilian-American side only surrendered double-digit rounds once on the day. In contrast, RBG took a hard-fought 16-13 win against new MDL side GGPR on Mirage.

The full bracket is available here.

Yesterday's results have setup the following semifinal matches today:

United States Rebirth vs. United States RBG
United States timbermen vs. Brazil Yeah

Both matches are set to kick-off at 4PM EST today, with the event's final set to follow. As always, the ultimate victors will walk away with $3,000, while the second place finishers will still net $1,000.
