Don't let the six-year old photo fool you, Snakes is back in 2024!

Snakes returns on MIGHT

The former prodigy is looking to start turning heads again in CS2.

MIGHT have completed their roster with the unexpected addition of Ryan "Snakes" Amann, seeing the former prodigy return to the scene after an extended hiatus following his departure from Strife in April last year. The addition of Snakes sees MIGHT close their ranks after a lengthy search for a new fifth that commenced when IGL Bobby "stamina" Eitrem left the team on January 12th.

For those who need a refresher, all the way back in 2017 a 15-year-old Snakes garnered much attention as a star player on SoaR, most notably helping his team qualify to EPL Season 7. In a team with the likes of Michael "Grim" Wince and Logan "Voltage" Long, Snakes was viewed as possibly one of the most exciting prospects while still being too young to drive.

However, Snakes' ascendancy came crashing down after ESL changed the rules for EPL and MDL, blocking players under 16 from competing in the leagues. This would contribute to Snakes missing out on a contract with Dignitas and putting his career ambitions on hold temporarily. Snakes would later return on AZIO/Spacestation and then Triumph, however his performance never quite returned to his halcyon days in 2018, while Snakes also suffered with personal and motivational problems.

Then in 2022, Snakes returned once again on ONET4P and Strife, seeing flashes of brilliance before being cut from Strife with stamina noting that Snakes showed signs of greatness while overall being inconsistent.

While this may lead some to question MIGHT's gamble on Snakes now, it's worth keeping in mind that despite having three distinct periods in his career already, Snakes is still only 21. Considering MIGHT's coach, Calvin "becker" Becker, previously worked with Snakes on Strife, it suggests he sees Snakes as worth another try despite his underwhelming performance on Strife. With the squad set to play their first ESL Challenger League Season 47 matches in short order, we'll hopefully see Snakes get back into the swing of things as he prepares for his first CS2 matches.

With Snakes, MIGHT are now:

  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal

  • United States Noah "Nifty" Francis

  • Canada Matthew "scar" Bruni

  • Dans "danss" Sils

  • United States Ryan "Snakes" Amann

  • United States Calvin "becker" Becker (Coach)

MIGHT's first match of ECL S47 is set to be against Party Astronauts on February 20th.

Update: Following the publication of this article, Jonathan "djay" Dallal added some additional context to the Snakes addition:

We went through about three weeks worth of tryouts before deciding on Snakes. He was on a team with becker who mainly vouched for him. He's been out of the game for a minute but has greater game knowledge and mechanics than majority of the players we gave a chance. He's been playing consistently for about two weeks and things looks promising. We're all confident in the pickup as he's shown us he's very capable and just needs some time to get back into "form".

I mean, it's not like stamina was this great stabilizing influence on the team... no hate to him though.
