stamina leaves MIGHT

MIGHT still have an ESL Challenger League berth to defend.

Today, Bobby "stamina" Eitrem announced his departure from MIGHT, a roster that was conceived for ESL Advanced Season 46 with the goals of reaching ESL Challenger League and doing damage in the qualifiers for the inaugural Major of Counter-Strike 2.

The squad attained the first of those goals. They finished fourth in ESEA Advanced Season 46 and earned a place at ESL Challenger League Season 46 Relegation. Once there, they were promptly swept by Bad News Bears but then bounced back to defeat Pantsu, LAG, and Rocket in subsequent three-map series to qualify for ECL. Te accomplishment of earning promotion alongside NRG and Reason, as opposed to being promoted by default, had the roster riding high heading into the Americas RMR NA Open Qualifiers.

But the squad wasn't counting on running into a buzzsaw of a mix team in their opening match of the first open qualifier. It was there that they met gamin4fun, who had Bradley "Slugy" Kohler and Owen "oBo" Schlatter each surpass 20 kills to lead the way in a 13-10 win over MIGHT on Nuke. stamina's troops faired much better the second go around, advancing all the way to the round of 16 with a bye followed by three wins. However, they ran into The Nomads and, once again, MIGHT fell 13-10. With this result, the MIGHT project fell just two wins short of the goal that they had formed to achieve.

For now the squad is still helmed by coach Calvin "becker" Becker, who was integrated into the project at least in part due to his experiences working with stamina on Strife. stamina did note in his statement that while he remains interested in IGL and AWP roles, he is not planning to rush into anything during this newfound period of free agency and is also weighing whether it is the time in his career that he too may transition to coaching and analyst work.

With the departure, MIGHT now consists of:

  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal

  • United States Noah "Nifty" Francis

  • Canada Matthew "scar" Bruni

  • Dans "danss" Sils

  • United States Calvin "becker" Becker (Coach)

MIGHT's next commitment is ESL Challenger League Season 47, which begins on February 6th. They will have until then to fill the void that stamina left.

He talks a lot about rushing into decisions in his statement... isn't leaving MIGHT a few days after an OQ loss rushing into a decision?
