M80 and Wildcard advance to ESL Challenger Atlanta Closed Qualifier

After an uneventful open qualifier, M80 and the new Wildcard roster have secured spots in the ESL Challenger Atlanta Closed Qualifier. Both teams beat their opponents convincingly during the open qualifier's second and final day. While M80 continued to prove why they are to be one of the top North American teams, the new-looking Wildcard team is justifying the organization's investment in the roster led by Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz.

Although M80 was not seeded as the #1 team in the qualifier, the squad did not face any trouble during the earlier rounds, not losing more than five rounds until the very last series against MIGHT. Wildcard did not have much to report, except during the game against Tsunami, which saw the #25 team in ESEA Advanced S47 NA get up to nine rounds.

M80's series against MIGHT started off with a huge Anubis win for the ESL Challenger League squad, 13-6 on MIGHT's pick, and was followed by a very close Inferno map, which went to overtime and ended with a M80 16-14 win. Wildcard faced Reason, who found themselves in the fight for a closed qualifier spot after Badass forfeited their quarterfinal series, and easily ESL Challenger League's last-placed team 13-5 on both maps.

With these results, M80 and Wildcard join Party Astronauts and Evil Geniuses in the closed qualifier for ESL Challenger Atlanta which starts today with Party Astronauts facing M80 and EG facing Wildcard. The closed qualifier features a double-elimination bracket and all matches are BO3s, with only one team securing tickets to Atlanta. Both games start at 03:30PM.
