Party Astronauts pick up FaNg in latest roster change

More changes have come to PA as they look to bulk up their squad.

Party Astronauts have announced the addition of Justin "FaNg" Coakley to their ranks as a replacement for Connor "chop" Sullivan, seeing the player leave Party Astronauts after more than a year with the team. FaNg's addition to PA's ranks is the latest in a flurry of roster changes for the orgless team, with Gage "Infinite" Green being added to the team just days ago after William "RUSH" Wierzba left to join Nouns on May 15th.

While the loss of RUSH was unplanned, the addition of FaNg comes as Party Astronauts look to improve their fortunes in the server heading into the second half of the year. While the team are still regarded as one of the best teams in North America, the team have fallen behind the likes of M80 and Nouns who are the undisputed best teams in the domestic scene at the moment.

Additionally, the team's recent lackluster result at ESL Challenger Melbourne likely left Ben "ben1337" Smith and Luke "Viathan" Carstens looking for ways to improve the team's fortunes ahead of ESL Challenger Jönköping next month. Parting ways with chop is the only real lever to pull as Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk is the team's star rifler while Adam "WolfY" Andersson is already one of the best AWPers the team could get at the moment.

Regardless, ben1337 told Dust2.us the decision to part with chop was difficult as,"[chop] has been with us for so long and has shown nothing but improvement. However, we felt Justin could bring some very important things to the team that will help us continue to grow."

As for FaNg's rationale for leaving BOSS to join PA, he was unfortunately less forthcoming only alluding to the fact that he initially advertised his time with BOSS as a stand-in period. However this move will also see him reunite with a number of former teammates, with cxzi in particular being a key teammate of FaNg's early in both their careers on Positive Vibes Only back in 2020, potentially providing insight for why he made the jump.

With this change, Party Astronauts are now:

  • United States Ben "ben1337" Smith

  • United States Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk

  • United States Adam "WolfY" Andersson

  • United States Gage "Infinite" Green

  • Canada Justin "FaNg" Coakley

  • United States Luke "Viathan" Carstens (Coach)

FaNg's debut with Party Astronauts will take place on May 20th as the team take on G3 in the Thunderpick World Champion North American Closed Qualifier #1.
