What a lovely scene! Surely everything is all hunky-dory internally :D

What to expect from Liquid v. OG

Surprise! Liquid play before Dallas.

Will rumors swirling around the future of Liquid, and especially their captain Casper "cadiaN" Møller, all eyes will be on the team for their final two events of the season CCT Global Finals and IEM Dallas. Luckily, their first match isn't too much trouble, just the rowdy OG squad, but they could still prove to be a challenge if Liquid face any debilitating intra-squad tension.

Liquid in flux

Liquid are coming off an extraordinarily fine EPL run. I say fine because, well, it was simply fine. They achieved quarterfinals, which is just about where they should have been. They beat every team they should have, FURIA, FlyQuest, and Monte, and lost to every team they should have, MOUZ and Astralis. They have yet to show the world-beating status they were put together to become, so we should hope to see a strong showing at CCT Global Finals if they are to stay together.

  • NAF and Twistzz continue to carry this team with 1.22 ratings over the past three months

  • YEKINDAR has improved, but still struggles with a 45% opening duel win rate

  • The team still has yet to fully buy into cadiaN's style of play with gamble stacks and multiple layers of fake executes

OG, a true question mark

For OG, everyone's gaze turns to one name in particular, HeavyGod. He posts a 1.15 rating over the past three months, with next up being AWPer MoDo with a decent but not impressive 1.08. Their results of late have been anything but inspiring, dropping out of YaLLa Compass Spring and CCT Season 2 Europe Series 1 win opening losses to Sashi and Insilio, though backed up by a 2nd place at Skyesports Masters 2024. This team is a true enigma and it leaves us wondering what version of OG will show up at CCT Global Finals.

  • HeavyGod holds a 1.15 rating over the past three months, by far the best on the team (how long until he's poached by a bigger name?)

  • k1to's IGLing must pay off as his 0.92 rating is not making a great case for him

Previous Matchups

These teams have yet to play one another with their current lineups.

Likely Vetoes

These vetos are extra difficult to predict as CCT Global Finals will be both OG's and Liquid's first event with Dust2 back in the map pool.

  • OG ban Nuke

  • Liquid ban Vertigo

  • OG pick Anubis

  • Liquid pick Inferno

  • Decider Mirage (Liquid will likely ban Dust2 second and OG should prefer Mirage to Ancient)

Extras

Remember that the future of Team Liquid is at stake in this event. Make sure to focus on Liquid's calling to see if there's any potential breakdown in communication.

Team Liquid face off against OG tomorrow at 02:30PM.
