An uncertain road ahead for Liquid

Liquid secure opening win in CCT Global Finals

It got close for a second.

Liquid have pulled out a tight win over OG in the opening best-of-three against the European squad to open up their campaign in the CCT Global Finals. The international roster were able to come out of the gate swinging on their opponent's map pick of Anubis, but they struggled to get things going on their open pick of Ancient. With an Inferno decider, it all came down to just how Liquid would find themselves able to come together.

Anubis was where Liquid got tihngs kicking off as they came out of the gate and dominated with a 6-0 lead to start off the series. OG were able to claim four rounds back to make it somewhat competitive in the second half, but Liquid's CT-side was better than expected as they secured five rounds on the defense to win the opening map 13-5.

With Liquid having all the momentum heading into their own pick of Ancient, it was almost expected that the international squad would pick up the win. However, OG proved to be tougher than epected as the Europeans pulled out a stellar 8-4 CT side and parlayed that into a 5-1 T-side as they shocked Liquid and evened up the series.

Inferno was a map where Liquid looked down and out before the end of the first half. With a daunting 7-3 deficit, Liquid were able to climb back bit by bit before eventually tying it all up at 9-9. Liquid, led by Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, pulled through with some clutch defense as they inevitably came back to win 13-10 to secure the first series of the event.
