EG's detractors make up a large part of the Counter-Strike scene.

Community reacts to EG reportedly leaving Counter-Strike

The Counter-Strike community airs their thoughts.

Yesterday, Richard Lewis reported that Evil Geniuses started a major top-down restructuring, fundamentally changing the organization. Among those changes, sources said that Evil Geniuses were very likely to exit Counter-Strike entirely as soon as December.

With failed rosters spanning years and a Blueprint project that ultimately could not deliver a competitive roster, the Counter-Strike community has long held animosity with the organization's management. The infamous GamerDoc tweet did not help either.

As expected, many of the initial reactions were anger with the organization for failing to produce an internationally relevant roster and ridicule at the management.

Others were also quick to point out that losing out on an org that, despite dysfunction and mismanagement, still paid a salary to ten players and coaching staff, is not necessarily a good thing.

With organizations like NRG looking at dipping their toes back into Counter-Strike, there is potential for Evil Geniuses players to be salaried once more, but until then, the loss of organizational backing is surely a blow.

Evil Geniuses leave behind a legacy of high highs, namely, one of the few North American rosters to ever achieve #1 on HLTV's rankings, and terribly low lows, with years of lackluster results, failed roster projects, and a Blueprint project aimed at developing North American talent but never achieving international relevancy.
