Altekz is one for the future for the Danish organization

Altekz: "If we win that's what matters in my roles"

The 19-year-old shone against Liquid and was solid against Cloud9.

Astralis have been griding lately, not in tier 1 competitions, but in the European "jungle" of tier 2 Counter-Strike. So far, in Dallas, that preparation has been proving fruitful as the team was able to beat Liquid in day one, and has now defeated Cloud9 2-0 in order to qualify for the main stage of IEM Dallas.

Dust2.us' Jeff "Mnmzzz" Moore talked with Alexander "Altekz" Givskov, who recently got called up to Astralis' main squad from the academy team, and they talked about Altekz's role with the team, the feeling of playing in front of a big crowd and more.

It was an absolutely dominant showing from Astralis. Can you walk me through how it feels to take on a team of such high caliber?

It feels really great. We played how we should play and I think everyone contributed a lot with the communication and hype, and I think that we showed that we wanted more than them and I think that's why we won today.

You ended that series with a 1.04 rating, which is quite good for someone coming in to replace someone not in a star role. Does it help you to ease in that transition of being a support player because you are surrounded by players like gla1ve and device?

It helps a lot. I would say that it's not the hardest of roles to fit in. I'm playing a lot by myself so I get the space that I want. I think it's nice, I'm not looking too much at stats, if we win that's what matters in my roles. I'm not the one who's supposed to do a 1.5 rating, I'm just happy when we win.

You attend this event with casle and you also attend this event with HUNDEN. I was wondering if I could ask you about the division of labor between the two of them?

HUNDEN is the analyst, he is doing a lot of analyst stuff, and casle is the main coach, so he's helping with the comms and helping in-game. HUNDEN is looking a lot more at opponents and helping us prepare for them. That's the deal between them, casle helping a lot in-game and HUNDEN preparing everything around the game.
