EliGE was one of several players to earn themselves some highlights in the Challengers Stage

The Americas' top highlights from Challengers Stage

Despite only having one team progress, there were a few eye-catching plays in the first stage of the Major.

With the Challengers Stage over North America find themselves with just Liquid left standing. Complexity fell with losses to their fellow NA sides in paiN and Liquid, whilst paiN were unable to convert a good start falling in the qualification games to Apeks and Monte. Liquid themselves got off to a woeful 0-2 start, but a tight win over Fluxo spurred the team on as they dominated Complexity and Grayhound to make it through.

With the Challengers stage now over, Dust2.us has you covered with a round-up of the North American highlights from the opening stage of the Major.

5 - Brazil Romeu "zevy" Rocco - paiN

Despite not having a great showing at his second Major, zevy did grab himself a nice clutch against FaZe. Unfortunately for paiN they would go on to lose the match, and for the young AWPer, he would manage just a 0.88 rating at the event, a significant drop off from his usual form and worse than his 0.94 at PGL Stockholm, his other Challengers Stage appearance.

4 - United States Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski - Liquid

A key component of the team's reverse sweep, once the chips were down and their backs against the wall Liquids stars came out to play. Here EliGE secures his team an important round on map two of their do-or-die game against Grayhound.

3 - Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli - Complexity

Complexity was in good form on day one after comfortably beating GamerLegion the team ran G2 close after a stellar first half which hallzerk concluded with an impressive clutch. Unfortunately, the day one Complexity went missing for the rest of the tournament as they failed to show up against domestic rivals paiN and Liquid.

2 - United States Josh "oSee" Ohm - Liquid

Liquid's reverse sweep was complete with a dominant win over the Australian Grayhound team. On the opening map, oSee displayed signs of the star AWPer he can be for the NA team as he won an impressive 1v3 clutch to keep the rounds rolling.

1 - Canada Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken - FaZe

The Canadian superstar started the team's second qualification match on fire, as he secured an ace clutch to get the International squad on the board. It was just the start of what was an impressive map two from Twistzz, as he posted a 1.42 rating on Nuke to lock in qualification to the Legends stage.
