You can see what it means for the European squad, being able to overcome all odds

Liquid and GamerLegion make history with comebacks

The two organizations have created a unique mark on the Paris Major.

The Majors are full of heartbreaking stories and exciting narratives. This one is about perseverance, as for the first time ever, two teams that went down 0-2 early in the tournament in the same stage have come back to a 3-2 record, qualifying for the next stage. In this case, it's the Legends stage, with Liquid and GamerLegion recovering from a devastating Day 1.

Liquid and GamerLegion were able to defy the odds in the first stage of the BLAST.tv Paris Major, but can they keep up their performance in the harsher, more competitive, Legends stage?

GamerLegion's story is about surpassing expectations, ever since the beginning of the road to Paris. Once there, the team wasn't dealt an easy hand as they had to face Complexity as their opener match. After a tough 16-11 loss, GamerLegion met with TheMongolz and also lost 16-11. Contrary to the IEM Rio Major 2022, where the squad started off with a 2-0 record but didn't manage to secure a spot in the Legends stage, this time GamerLegion fell to a 0-2 record and managed to come back to a 3-2 record with three straight BO3 wins against MOUZ, OG, and FORZE.

Making history alongside Europeans is Liquid, who also managed to turn a very slow start into a three-game win streak to advance. This isn't the first time Liquid manage such a feat. During the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, still with Richard "shox" Papillon, the team dropped the first two BO1s but won the three following matches to bring them to the Legends stage.

At the Paris Major, Liquid fell against Apeks and FORZE 16-12 and 16-14, respectively. Then, they barely survived against Fluxo, but have been looking decent ever since beating Complexity and Grayhound.

For a lot of teams, the Major is a marathon, a competition where mental games play a huge role. Being able to turn a 0-2 into a 3-2 is good, and shows resiliency, but it also can take a toll on the team's energy. Can GamerLegion and Liquid stay focused?

The Legends stage starts tomorrow with GamerLegion taking on NAVI and Liquid facing 9INE, both games starting at 05:30AM.
