EG Gold to try out new players

The Seattle-based organization is shaking things up in hopes to reach the next level.

EG Gold is getting ready for the new season of ESL Impact, but the lineup isn't set in stone yet. On January 20th, the team coach, Louis "onter" Contreras, revealed that the team is looking for new players, and in order to get the best of the best, EG Gold will be hosting tryouts.

The process is ongoing, and it's proving to be working, in the sense that EG has found some candidates worth trying out. The team played yesterday in the ESEA Intermediate division and was seen fielding Tig "Rice" Simpson, a former sznl affective disorder member.

Rice came in a tough situation for EG Gold, as Jessica "Jesscas" Ngo and Lucy "empathy" Verkaik were unable to play, meaning onter was also fielded yesterday.

Evil Geniuses joined the women's scene only five months ago and it hasn't been a smooth ride so far. The team has only participated in one ESL Impact Cash Cup, finishing in second place. EG Gold also qualified for the ESL Impact Season 2 Finals but didn't manage to win a single map. By the end of the year, the team didn't manage to get a spot for ESL Impact Katowice. The organization is now looking to add new pieces in order to one up last year's results.

It remains to be seen if Evil Geniuses have settled for Rice or if the player is just the first of many to try and get a spot in the women's squad. The tryout form can be found here.

EG Gold, as of last night, are:

  • United States Lucy "empathy" Verkaik

  • United States Anna "garden" Gutierrez

  • Canada Jessica "Jesscas" Ngo

  • United States Kiara "m1lky" Makua

  • Kiki "PiggyKiki" Long

  • United States Tig "Rice" Simpson (Stand-in)

  • United States Louis "onter" Contreras (Coach)
