JOTA showed his fragging prowess against oNe

MIBR win BLAST's battle of Brazil

MIBR outlasted oNe in a gruelling three-mapper to progress through the BLAST Showdown bracket.

With both teams having failed to make any impact at the Rio RMR, the BLAST Showdown offered them their last chance at tier-one competition before the end of the year. The match had some added weight to it with Complexity having been knocked out early by Sharks, opening up this half of the bracket.

Map one would be oNe's pick of Overpass, starting off with a T-side pistol win in an effort to get the ball rolling early. However a solid hold on the force buy by MIBR offered the favoured team a way to halt any early momentum. oNe managed to pull out their own force win and with it the following three rounds followed.

After trading out a few rounds oNe found themselves with six rounds on the T-side, not a bad haul but they managed to pull off another force buy win to bring their total up to seven rounds. MIBR continued to struggle on the favoured side, managing to scrape together a measly four rounds to leave them with a big hill to climb in the second half.

oNe would only lose one player in the second half pistol and a strong second round conversion gave them a 13-4 lead on the favored side of their map pick. A good set of opening trades gave MIBR the first gun round, but it would be a tough task to close the gap on oNe's pick. A crisp 3k from Matheus "Tuurtle" Anhaia to crack open the B bombsite gave MIBR some hope as it forced the CT-side into almost a full eco.

It was Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian who was leading the comeback for the MIBR side, and with a 3k of his own in round 21 he brought his kill tally up to 20, and oNe were back on an eco at 13-9. After trading the next two rounds, a last second wallbang kill from Pedro "Maluk3" Campos to deny the bombplant gifted oNe map point. oNe shutdown the comeback with a 16-10 scoreline and moved onto Nuke.

After taking a 3-0 start on the CT-side oNe fell foul to another force buy, giving MIBR the first round on their T-side. They followed it up with the next two to even up the scores at 3-3 and only needing to find one or two more rounds to have a really solid T-side. oNe's superstar Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa has been fairly quiet over the past few tournaments, but a big 3k ramp hold with the FAMAS enabled his team to stop the T-side charge.

MIBR finally got a grip on the map on the much favored CT-side stringing together four rounds to bring it back 12-12. malbsMd's 24-12 K/D performance powered the oNe side into the lead on their opponents map pick but oNe struggled on the T-side. A massive 1v2 from Matheus "pesadelo" Panisset kept the MIBR side honest and oNe within one round, but pesadelo failed to repeat the feat in the following round giving MIBR map point.

After losing the pistol on Dust2, oNe managed to convert another force buy after a jumping no scope from malbsMd with the scout to close the round out. However, Tuurtle decided to return the favour with a 3k deagle round to give MIBR thier own force-buy win. From there it was all MIBR, securing a strong 5-1 lead on the T-side of Dust2 not allowing oNe any foothold in the game.

JOTA clearly wanted to get the match wrapped up, topping the leaderboard at 15-3 after just seven rounds. MIBR continued to stomp their way through the final map, racing off to a 8-1 lead and oNe looked to be bereft of ideas on the CT-side. oNe finally found a second round for themselves but lost two players at the end of the round which hit thier economy hard for the next round.

Maluk3 managed to close out a 1v1 in the next round after the team nearly threw a 4v2 advantage. Despite having suffered such a beatdown from MIBR early in the half, oNe could still fight back to as close as a 7-8 scoreline if they closed out the rest of the rounds in the first half. They failed to do so and with a 4-11 deficit heading into the T-side it would take a remarkable comeback to get themselves back in the game.

The comeback got off to a good start with oNe securing the first three rounds of the second half. MIBR got their first round of the CT-side on the board in the 19th, and should of had the 20th but failed to close a 2v1 against Victor "iDK" Torraca. The scare didnt last as MIBR secured themselves 15 rounds as JOTA secured himself a 30 bomb.

oNe threw caution to the wind with a all out long fight and came out worse off leaving Maluk3 in a 1v3 to keep them in the game but failed to convert it. For MIBR the result provides a positive note to break up their recent poor form and they will be extremely confident in their next match-up against sharks, especially if JOTA provides the same crazy numbers.
