The band is back together

Last Dance confirmed for the Major Legends Clash

The original five members of the SK/Luminosity roster will play together in front of their home crowd.

ESL announced today the showmatch which will take prior to the Grand Final in Rio. With Players from both Imperial and 00 Nation selected, it's a reunion of the legendary SK/Luminosity roster which will compete against a team of legendary Swedes.

The ESL Brasil twitter appeared to tease the announcement in several deleted tweets, but they were noticed by fans of both nations. Now, it's officially confirmed that the showmatch will take place.

The fans are longing for the two-time Major winners to reunite ever since each went their own way.

Lincoln "fnx" Lau left SK Gaming to join the Immortals squad that, after he left, went on to reach the PGL Major Krakow 2017 Grand final against Gambit. Roughly one year after, fnx created the Não Tem Como team that played the ESL One Belo Horizonte 2018. The team quickly disbanded after only six months. He joined RED Canids after a one-year break, where he spent nine months and averaged a 1.07 rating after 79 maps played. After a forgetful stint with Paquetá, that ended with the team declaring end of activity, fnx joined some of his former teammates from the SK/Luminosity era.

Fernando "fer" Alvarenga stayed with the SK tag until the very end of the org's stay in Counter-Strike. Then, fer and the rest of the roster joined MIBR. Even before the transition to the Brazilian tag, the squad had lost fnx and Epitácio "TACO" de Melo, and had added Jake "Stewie2K" Yip and Ricardo "boltz" Prass. fer's stay with the legendary BR banner was long but unfruitful to the standards of those players. Despite this, fer averaged a 1.12 rating after 464 maps played with MIBR. The team had a lot of roster changes during the two years and a month fer was there and things ended with the team releasing fer and some more team members. The rifler then had quick stints with Imperial (before hosting the Last Dance roster) and 00 NATION, before joining the Last Dance project.

Marcelo "coldzera" David continued with fer, but not all the way until the releases. coldzera spent one year with MIBR, leaving in 2019 to join FaZe, where he played for two years under Finn "karrigan" Andersen's leadership. The Brazilian wasn't performing as he used to, only averaging a 1.06 rating after 297 maps. The author of the Mirage B graffiti was then benched and ultimately left the team. The Brazilian then went to Complexity to try and bring the Juggernaut to life, but his time there was quick, only playing 22 maps in one month. coldzera is now playing with 00 NATION since January, and it seems to have been the right play for the 27 year old.

TACO was the first member of the major winning roster to leave for an international line-up, joining Liquid right after leaving SK. But the player couldn't stay separated from his former teammates and after eight months with Liquid, he rejoined coldzera, fer, and Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo on MIBR for one year and five months, when he got released alongside fer and Ricardo "dead" Sinigaglia, the coach. After a break, TACO joined the GODSENT project, where he played the role of leader, surrounded by young Brazilian players with a lot of potential. GODSENT then collapsed after TACO and two more players were acquired by 00 NATION, where the "TACOld" reunion took place. TACO's average rating is 0.90 with the new team, but his role is one of the hardest to judge based on statistics.

FalleN, the main reason for the Last Dance project, also stayed with MIBR until the very end, when he benched himself after fer and TACO got released. After a short break, the legendary AWPer joined Liquid where he averaged a 1.00 rating after 148 maps played. His period with the North American organization started off relatively well but as time went on, the Professor's performances weren't the same as before and the team's chemistry wasn't really there so things started to go sideways. After one year and a some weeks on the bench for Liquid, FalleN announced the start of the Last Dance project with fer, fnx, boltz, and Vinicius "VINI" FIgueiredo.

The Last Dance project reportedly started with FalleN and coldzera thinking of bringing together a superteam only with Brazilian players but different opinions culminated with coldzera leaving the talks. After FalleN, fer, fnx, boltz and VINI coming together, Imperial became the house for FalleN's last run.

Now, the full SK/Luminosity gang will be facing off Team Sweden in the IEM Rio Major Showmatch, on November 13th.
