Liquid will be looking to build on their 5th-6th place finish at IEM Cologne

Complexity and Liquid dealt a rough draw in BLAST Fall Groups

Liquid and Complexity could be set for a North American derby in Group B.

BLAST have revealed the groups, brackets, and schedules for the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall Groups – the first tier one event of the new season which is scheduled to kick off on August 19th.

The tournament will start with a best-of-one group stage before transitioning into best-of-threes for the knockout and last chance stages.

Headlining North America at the event is none other than Liquid in Group B, with Nick "nitr0" Cannella's boys hoping to have a repeat of their strong showing from IEM Cologne, especially given superstar stand-in Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis is poised to start for the squad. Also looking to get the new season off to a good start is Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski who ended IEM Cologne as the fourth best player tournament-wide with a stellar 1.25 rating over thirteen maps – his strongest Big Event performance since BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2019.

Complexity, also seeded into Group B, will be using the upcoming BLAST event as a chance to test the waters with their new European import, Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli. The Norwegian sniper has slotted into the lineup in lieu of Paytyn "junior" Johnson and his addition is hoped to help get the Complexity ship back on track after a rather disastrous record so far this year.

The last North American roster to be competing at BLAST Premier Fall Groups is Evil Geniuses, who find themselves in Group C with the recently-crowned champions of IEM Cologne, FaZe. The event marks not only the start of the new season but the debuts of both Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov and Jadan "HexT" Postma – the latter of whom has received his call-up from the EG.CD lineup. BLAST Premier Fall Groups will also mark the beginning of Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg's time as the main roster's skipper, with the Danish tactician recently making the jump to North American Counter-Strike after previously being behind PGL Antwerp Major quarterfinalists, Copenhagen Flames.

The groups for the event are:

Group A
Vitality
OG
NIP
Astralis

Group B
Complexity
Liquid
NAVI
G2

Group C
Evil Geniuses
FaZe
Heroic
BIG

The opening games for each of the three groups will begin at 07:00AM and 08:00AM on their respective days:

Group A - August 19th
Vitality vs. OG
NIP vs. Astralis

Group B - August 20th
Complexity vs. NAVI
Liquid vs. G2

Group C - August 21st
Evil Geniuses vs. FaZe
Heroic vs. BIG

All eyes will be on the above teams who will be duking it out at BLAST Premier Fall Groups in just over two weeks' time. Of the twelve teams in attendance, just six will be able to make it all the way to the BLAST Premier Fall Finals in Denmark, with this $425,000 event set to get underway in late November.
