FalleN and company looked strong as they powered through their competition

Imperial headline day two of SA RMR Open Qualifier 1

A lack of upsets sees some interesting matchups on day two.

The first day of the inaugural South American RMR Open Qualifier has drawn to a close, with fan favorites Imperial leading the way as the tournament heads into its final day of competition.

The first two rounds of play unfolded largely as expected, with MIBR easily moving past MILA on the back of a 16-1 scoreline while Imperial played a flawless game with a 16-0 trouncing of LAUNDO E AMIGOS. Elsewhere, Boca Juniors faced limited resistance as they edged out TROPA DE LATRO 16-4 while ELES, featuring twins Henrique "HEN1" Teles and Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, also had their own perfect showing, deconstructing PartyGamingKo 16-0 on Nuke.

The third round of play continued to see heavyweight teams come out on top in dominating fashion, notably seeing 9z decimate Uniao Bolsolula 16-2 on Mirage whilst Marcelo "coldzera" David and 00 Nation bested chameleons PR 16-1 after also paying a visit to Mirage. Meanwhile, Imperial continued their strong showing with another one-sided 16-1 thrashing of MareaTurbo while Case, helmed by veteran Lucas "steel" Lopes, walked over Sons of Lin 16-4 on Inferno.

Round four bore witness to more overwhelming victories at the hands of the favorites, such as Sharks who had no trouble taking down IMED Wolves 16-2 on Mirage. MIBR also marched on to victory, posting a 16-6 scoreline versus NOTHING on Dust2 while Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and company powered through Immitis 16-4 on Inferno. The most notable deviation from the narrative thus far was ELES needing a trip to overtime to stay alive in the tournament, as they barely survived SWS 19-16 on Dust2.

The fifth and final round of competition saw a few matchups that proved to be a bit too close for comfort for the heavyweight sides, notably seeing 9z require a 16-12 scoreline against Leviatán to net themselves a day two appearance. Similarly, HEN1's men faced staunch resistance in a hard-fought 16-13 showing against SEM FREIO whilst 00 Nation were pushed to a close 16-11 series versus Blackhat.

Despite the close scorelines elsewhere, Imperial managed to book their spot in the second day of the event with a comfortable 16-7 victory over Beneath. MIBR's solid form throughout the event continued as they easily took down FLORIPA STARS 16-2 on Overpass whilst Case secured a day two berth on the back of a 16-3 cruising over NK.

The second day begins with the Round of 16 portion of the event, before transitioning into BO3 matchups for the quarterfinals, the winners of which will books themselves a spot in the American RMR which is scheduled from April 11th-April 14th.
