fer, fnx, and FalleN reunite under a new banner

Imperial sign The Last Dance and are ready to samba

How much success can a former Major-winning core have in today's scene?

“The Last Dance” led by Brazil’s Major winning core of Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, and Lincoln “fnx” Lau have signed with Brazilian organization Imperial Esports. The Imperial roster will be rounded out by veteran Ricardo “boltz” Prass and former FURIA talent Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo, with Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu leading the charge in the coaching department. The highly anticipated search began after FalleN’s benching on Liquid’s main roster following an up-and-down eleven months with North America’s top organization but did not take long to gain traction. Within weeks, FalleN’s unnamed search began to take form, as the legendary IGL was able to round out the roster and put a name to the project.

As former teammates during the back-to-back Major run, FalleN, fer, and fnx have been hard pressed to find success beyond the historic South American lineup. After years of trying to replicate past success, the fan-favorite trio finds themselves together one final time to lift the trophies they once did together. boltz joins the lineup with a wealth of experience throughout the Brazilian scene that includes prior experience with FalleN and fer as a part of KaBuM.TD and Luminosity. At his peak, boltz saw a second-place finish at the PGL Krakow Major in 2017. For VINI, this will be his first team venture outside of FURIA since the core’s rise together. At just 22 years of age, the player will garner a wealth of experience from the four players with over 30 years of CS:GO and Major experience under their belts.

Before the team officially signed with Imperial, it is rumored that the AWPer/In-game leader received an offer from “a top-three team” during the formation of The Last Dance. Based on current world rankings, this would point to NAVI, Vitality, and G2. Given the current situations of the three teams, logic would suggest G2 was the only likely candidate to offer FalleN a contract, given their recent acquisitions of in-game leader Alexi “Aleksib” Virolainen and rookie AWPer Ilya “m0nesy” Osipov. With the proposal not taking form into anything more, FalleN eventually found his home with fellow Brazilian talent as the legend takes aim one last time for a run at trophies.

Imperial have put a great deal of faith into this roster and have put their money where their mouth is. As first reported by Roque Marques, VINI and boltz both required contract buyouts from FURIA and MIBR, respectively, while the Brazilian organization were able to claim the mastermind of the project for free following his release from Liquid, who also made a fruitless offer to VINI in the interim. The team will play from Miami and compete in the North American region, further bolstering the level of competition available to ESL Challenger League teams to practice with.

With “The Last Dance” signed, Imperial looks like:

  • Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo

  • Fernando “fer” Alvarenga

  • Lincoln “fnx” Lau

  • Ricardo “boltz” Prass

  • Vinicus “VINI” Figueiredo

  • Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu (Coach)

To say that there is excitement around this roster would be an understatement. Imperial has already sold over 3,000 jerseys.
