Breaking: ESL announce IEM will return to America in 2027

ESL have announced today that the Intel Extreme Masters will return to America in 2027 with a $300,000 tournament set to take place from April 5th to April 11th. The event will serve as the third of seven events ESL plans on holding in 2027, with the event following ESL Pro League Season 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Invites for IEM America 2027 will be filled via the January 2027 VRS update while the event will be seeded via the March 2027 VRS update. ESL have yet to share a location, however there's a decent chance of it being tied to a 2027 DreamHack event as you have to go all the way back to IEM Chicago 2019 to find the last IEM event in NA without an attached DreamHack festival.

The transition from May to April for IEM America 2027 was likely a result of the upcoming FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027, as the Argentine Major is set to start in late May.
