NAF'S record v. MIBR was perfect for seven years

Liquid's seven-year winning streak over MIBR snapped at IEM Cologne Major 2026

Liquid hadn't lost to MIBR since May 2019.

Liquid were felled by MIBR on Mirage 13-10 in the 1-1 pool at IEM Cologne 2026. MIBR's win over Liquid put the Brazilians one match away from Stage 2 qualification at the Major, while putting Liquid on the ropes and facing elimination at 1-2.

There was the added caveat that the win was the first time MIBR had beaten Liquid since May 2019, more than seven years ago. During that time, the two teams faced each other on 16 occasions, with Liquid winning every single time. In the 30 maps played, MIBR had only won a single map in the matchup, a 2-1 loss at the Perfect World Shanghai Major in 2024.

The Liquid roster in the May 2019 matchup was the team that was just starting a speedrun of the ESL Grand Slam Season 2. Current Liquid members Keith "NAF" Markovic and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski were joined by Nick "nitr0" Canella, Russell "Twistzz" Van Dulken, and Jake "Stewie2K" Yip.

For MIBR, this was the team that featured the two-time Major-winning core of Fernando "fer" Alvarenga, Marcelo "coldzera" David, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, and Epitácio "TACO" de Melo, as well as the frequently shuffled in-and-out João "felps" Vasconcellos.
