EliGE and NAF led the way

Liquid look solid in first IEM Cologne victory over BIG

They capitalized on BIG's mistakes.

In their first match of IEM Cologne, Liquid overcame doubts about whether they could comfortably compete in Stage 1, especially as a team that just narrowly qualified for the Major. They took down BIG 13-10, finished strong, and showed they were the better team.

They would take the opening pistol on Nuke, but BIG would win their first real buy round. Then, Gleb "gr1ks" Gazin’s victory in a 1v1 would give BIG their first lead in the map. Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak responded with an insane jumping deagle shot en route to tying the game 4-4. The Pole put on a strong T side performance, giving Liquid a 7-5 lead.

The second pistol would go the way of BIG as the score continued to oscillate. Liquid were the first to reach double digits, and although BIG were not far behind, they made some costly mistakes. In the end, Liquid prevailed 13-10 in a promising best-of-one performance.
