Valve makes triple boosts inaccurate in latest CS2 update, breaking "olof boosts"
On May 18th, Valve released their most recent update for Counter-Strike 2 with few notable changes. Among grenade clipping fixes and new map scripting commands, one change caught the eye of the community. In the "MISC" section, Valve updated boosting inaccuracy to make anyone boosted on top of two or more players inaccurate.
That means whoever is on top of a three or four-man boost will shoot as if they are on a ladder (not very accurate).
The update was met with backlash from much of the community as many saw it as fixing something that wasn't broken. While three or four-man boosts are not extremely common, they have been a consistent mechanic in the game for many years as a unique form of teamplay.
The most infamous example of a boost like this is the "olofpass" boost from the quarterfinal of DreamHack Winter 2014 between Fnatic and LDLC. Overpass is a common place for these boosts, such as the four-man stack next to T-stairs to heaven and the three-man stack in graffiti to water. While the update doesn't affect the ability for players to boost, it makes them almost useless as you can't shoot while on top.
The update is not likely to make a big impact as these boosts are rare, but updates like this and the reload change are reminders that Valve remains unpredictable in what they will choose to adjust next.
