IEM Atlanta 2026 peak viewership dips 31% compared to IEM Dallas 2025
According to data from Esports Charts, IEM Atlanta 2026 recorded a 31% decrease in peak viewers and a 39.7% decrease in average viewers when compared to IEM Dallas 2025, the S-tier NA LAN ESL's Atlanta offering replaced on the calendar.
The decrease in viewership metrics comes as IEM Atlanta 2026 faced steep competition from PGL Astana 2026 as the Kazakh event ran during the time-frame as Atlanta, with the two events often overlapping or running back-to-back.
Additionally, IEM Atlanta faced a direct challenger in its own backyard, with BLAST Fort Worth taking place a little more than a week before Atlanta, leading to a highly-saturated CS calendar in May.
This saturation is what many in the community and on Reddit have pointed to in being key factors for the declining viewership especially as top teams were split between the two events.
As Esports Charts notes in an article comparing the two events, Astana nearly doubled Atlanta's peak viewership in large part because of it's Russian-language broadcast.
This should be no surprise as the event featured Spirit, an incredibly popular Russian team, and Falcons, another squad with key Russian players. Additionally, the event had a far larger prizepool and the best teams in the finals, while Atlanta struggled after Vitality exited the tournament in the quarterfinals.
