regain and Club 333 advance to CROSSFIRE Season 5 finals
regain and Club 333 have secured spots in the grand finals of CROSSFIRE Season 5 following the conclusion of the semifinals on July 3rd. The two teams are set to battle this weekend for the $3,000 first-place prize while Overtake Sector will play raisedbypixels for $1,500 in the third-place decider.
The first semifinal series between regain and raisedbypixels ended up being a fairly comprehensive victory for regain, with the highest-ranked team in the event closing it out in two maps. Starting on Ancient, raisedbypixels surprised by taking their CT-side 7-5 after a rally towards the end of the half. However, it ended up mattering for little as regain posted a near-perfect CT-side to take the map 13-6.
Moving onto map two, Mirage, a similar series played out as raisedbypixels once again led at halftime with a hard-fought 7-5 lead on their T-side before completely collapsing on their CT-side, allowing regain to dominate and take the map 13-8.

The second semifinal on July 3rd was far more competitive, going to three maps with Club 333 ultimately taking the series 2-1. The day started with Club 333 starting Inferno with a 7-5 lead after the first half, charging up to a 9-5 half when the side switched. From here, Overtake Sector mounted the makings of a serious comeback as they won four in a row to tie Inferno up 9-9 before Club 333 found their footing in the full buy rounds to win the next four and take the map 13-9.
Mirage began with Club 333 winning their third pistol round of the night to claim an early 3-0 lead on their CT-side before Overtake Sector came take to make things competitive to tie the first half up 6-6. Club 333 would retake the lead by climbing up to a 4-0 lead on pistol rounds, however after one round their completely gave up this lead as Overtake Sector would mount an ironclad defense on their CT-side to claim seven rounds in a row to take Mirage 13-8 and tie the series up 1-1.
With the series tied, Club 333 jumped into action on their T-side on Dust2, winning a fifth pistol round and converting that advantage into a 6-1 lead. However, they let their foot off the gas letting Overtake Sector win the last five rounds of the half to tie things up 6-6.
Heading into the final half of the series all tied up, Club 333 claimed their sixth pistol round of the series on Dust2, and despite losing the following round, this ended up being a decisive round win as their boosted economy was enough for them to win round 15 and then string together five rounds in a row to win Dust2 13-7.
