100 Thieves' new roster claims first trophy at Danish Parken Challenger Championship #6 LAN
This weekend 100 Thieves traveled to Denmark to compete in the sixth Parken Challenger Championship event, a series of €10,000 LANs that have helped revive the open circuit in Northern Europe. Like many teams, 100 Thieves' goal in attending this event was to gain as many VRS points as possible as they aim to claim invites to tier-one events.
The team also went into the Copenhagen LAN aiming to claim their first trophy as the honor has eluded the roster despite a number of closer calls including a second-place finish at DraculaN Season 5.
With 100 Thieves heading into Parken Challenger Championship #6 as the second-highest team behind the Bulgarians of Ascend, the expectation was definitely for 100T to win, and they accomplished that task while only dropping a single map over the weekend.
100 Thieves' start in the group stage was effectively a write-off, with the team dominating in the Bo1s, only facing a slightly close game against an unknown Ukrainian mixteam named Matrix.
In playoffs, 100T started their run off with a 2-0 win over A Great Chaos (You may recognize this tag and Artur "ynrii" Maratovich for occasionally competing in NA), before besting Ukrainian squad Basement Boys 2-0 (13-3, 13-2) to advance to the Upper Bracket Finals.
From here, 100 Thieves played their closest game of the event, needing three maps to take down Ascend as Hristiyan "REDSTAR" Pironkov put up a strong 1.25 rating for the Bulgarian stack.
With this win, 100 Thieves met BASEMENT BOYS once again in the grand finals, with a 2-0 (13-9, 13-6) getting 100T the win.
Winning this event is admittedly small potatoes for 100 Thieves, especially Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz and Håvard "rain" Nygaard, but the importance of winning anything together cannot be understated, especially when it boosts 100 Thieves into 39th place on the VRS.
