Modder OrelStealth recreates classic VIP game mode for CS2 maps

The modding community never stops dropping content.

As Counter-Strike fans clamor to Valve for more content, the modding community has stepped up in a big way. One example is modder OrelStealth's recent announcement that he has remade the classic "Assassination" game mode, commonly known as "VIP". While it hasn't been in CS officially since 1.6 and Condition Zero, the game mode is a classic that many remember fondly.

For those unfamiliar, VIP works like this: the CTs all spawn as normal, except for one player who is designated the VIP. Unlike regular CTs, the VIP cannot buy anything. The only weapons they get are a P250, a Zeus x27, a knife, and some grenades. They also get 150 HP, heavy armor, and a medi-shot that restores health.

The objective of the CTs is to escort the VIP to a helicopter that randomly lands at A site, B site, Mid, or T Spawn. The CTs also win if they eliminate all the Ts. The Ts all spawn normally. Their objective is to either eliminate the VIP or prevent the VIP from reaching the helicopter before time runs out.

There are some extra wrinkles, but that's about all there is to it! OrelStealth has made the game mode playable on seven maps: Ancient Day, Ancient Night, Anubis, Dust2, Inferno, Overpass, and Vertigo.

If you want to play, just go to this workshop folder, add whichever maps you want, then they will be ready to play in-game after they are downloaded.
