Breaking: Valve drops hint at imminent release of Cache

Clear your calendar next week.

Valve has released a huge hint at the release of fan-favorite map Cache. The CS2 developer posted on X, saying, "What are you doing next week?" with a video of iconic plays from the map.

Valve has owned the map since May 2025 after purchasing the rights from its creator, Shawn "FMPONE" Snelling. Since then, speculation has been rife as to when the map would be added to the Active Duty pool.

This is the second hint we've seen from Valve in the past week, with a more obscure reference made in their X header on Wednesday, which appears to show a screenshot from Cache's T spawn.

They dropped a similar nugget prior to the release of Train, changing the banner to a screenshot of that map about a week and a half before it was integrated into CS2.

Cache was last in the Active Duty map pool in 2019, when it was replaced by Vertigo ahead of the StarLadder Berlin Major. Cache is playable on FACEIT now, although in its state as it was bought from FMPONE, and not how we will see it upon its full release.
