swayu steps down from Reign Above

swayu leaves Reign Above amidst a losing streak for the team.

On April 4th, Matthew "swayu" Norton announced his decision to step down from Reign Above, leaving the organization after being signed in August 2025. During his time with Reign Above, swayu notably helped the organization achieve a position on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) while making appearances at two NSTLGA LANs and FRAG Miami 2 2026.

More recently the team have undergone a number of roster changes, with Troy "SayYouWill" Muehlhausen being cut from the squad in February while Colin "colin" Chan left Reign Above to join Chicken Coop later in the month. In their place Reign Above picked up David "dAVE" Karivalis and Nolan "louie" Herges. With the duo, Reign Above have struggled to replicate their earlier success as the team are currently 2-7 in series on HLTV with the duo.

The need to recover from these recent results seemingly played a role in swayu leaving Reign Above as he told Dust2.us he left due to differences in goals between himself and his teammates. He also stated that the team wants to adopt a much more "time consuming" schedule, with swayu saying he felt he was unlikely to be able to meet this schedule due to other commitments.

With swayu stepping down, Reign Above are reduced to:

  • United States Adam "SeRCEra" Zielinski

  • United States Jacob "cobalt" Elkins

  • United States David "dAVE" Karivalis

  • United States Nolan "louie" Herges
